Why is calibration of glassware important?

Why is calibration of glassware important?

Generally, whenever we look for purchasing glassware for a laboratory, we look out for some of the best kind of products. But why is that? We need quality and long lasting instruments. But what does calibration got to do with quality or any of this?

It does have something to do with the quality. Calibration is basically the process we follow to compare the reading on one equipment with another equipment (this is a reference). This is done to rectify any kind of errors (approximation error, parallax error) and also adjust the value of any measurement you are taking with the equipment. So calibration is important for accuracy and also for adjusting the output value to suit our research and preferences. When you set out to purchase the glass ware, you need to be aware that it is duly calibrated.  This is because we need to exactly know and understand what service that particular instrument or equipment is doing.

Now, when you are utilizing the same equipment for months or years together, it is quite common that over time, the accuracy of that particular instrument goes down. Thus, when you want to prevent any kind of errors in the readings you take or the measurement, you need to keep getting calibration done. Also, calibration is essential for lab glass ware because you need to keep on getting some accurate and the best readings repeatedly. There should not be any kind of uncertainty and error in the readings. Thus, calibration is essential.
