An autoclave is naturally a surgical instrument which is utilized to sterilize various equipment like laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical instruments and other items. They are used to sterilize solids, liquids etc. This type of lab items helps in killing bacteria, spores and germs.
An autoclave comes in various sizes and shapes. Also, a very basic one looks like a pressure cooker. This instrument finds its use in clinics and medical institutes because it is the best way to sterilize anything. They may have different functionalities too. Autoclaving is better than open flaming for sterilization which is why this is better.
Basically it works and sterilizes a particular product by heating them above the boiling point. Then, they are successful in killing all the harmful germs and bacteria.
