Why is the plastic wash bottle used?

Wash bottles is an equipment where you can squeeze. Also, there is a nozzle which is required to help rinse different pieces of laboratory ware like test tubes, round bottom flasks etc. These bottles are closed and are sealed with a screw top lid. When pressure is applied in a chemical lab experiment, the liquid inside is forced to come out of the nozzle in a thin stream.

What are they made of?

Polyethylene is the most used object. Apart from this, there is a solvent resistant petroleum based plastic. These also have an internal dip tube. Also, these wash bottles contain chemicals like acetone, isopropanol, ethanol, deionized water etc. In biology labs, sodium hypochlorite is stored in this particular product so as to keep safe from any unsafe environment.

What are different types of wash bottles?

Red type is used for storing acetone. White wash bottles are used for storing ethanol, sodium hydrogen chlorite, the green one is used for methanol and yellow for isopropanol. A spiral gas lift was bottle is suitable for removing gas. And, if you want to store a strong solvent and destructive substance then, you can store it with Nalgene Teflon FEP one.

What are the advantages?

Wash bottles help in controlling and measuring the exact amount of any chemical liquid which is being used. Also, they are way better than using any beaker or other cylinder. Also, they make sure no unwanted or dirty substances pass through them.
