The Different Parts of Oscilloscope!

The Different Parts of Oscilloscope!

As we discussed in the previous blog about different types of Oscilloscope here we can talk about the different parts of the oscilloscope.

~ Display

The display is where you will see the results or the current status of the signal. It also shows you the values of voltage, the current flowing in the signal and time.

~ Graticule

This graticule is on the display and it has horizontal and vertical lines dividing the screen into a grid. On the Y-axis, you have the horizontal line representing some V/division.  And along the X-axis, you have each vertical line which represents the number of seconds per division.

~ Analog Input Channels

The input channels are located on the front of the unit and these input channels are mainly industry standard BNC connectors. The inner conductor has the signal and the outer shielding connects to the common ground.

~ Analog Probes

The scopes probes have a BNC connection on one end and both the ground and probe tip on the other end. This probe can connect to any of the input channels and it allows a different part of a circuit to be captured and analyzed.

Then, you have horizontal scale controls and vertical scale controls where the knob on the oscilloscope adjusts with the time per division. The vertical scale also adjusts the volts per division.

There are other parts like horizontal position control, vertical position control, trigger control, etc. You even have vernier dials.
