Compression test for Timber!

Compression test for Timber!

One of the essential parts of any civil engineering lab is to have a compression test. In a compression and tension test, we try to apply the axial load to a test specimen and then there is a uniform stress distribution over the particular critical section. Now, when such tests occur, the test subject or the specimen is gradually subjected to the increasing of the uniaxial load until the particular failure happens. When the static tension of compression tests happen, there are simpler mechanical tests that happen.

Hence, these tests provide all the fundamental mechanical properties that can be used for different design processes.

Next, there is a particular use for tension which is against the compression test and in all probability, it determines the largest type of service that needs to be suited. Metals generally exhibit a very high tenacity and thus they are more efficient for resisting tensile loads. For brittle materials, the mortar, concrete, brick and ceramic products are employed to resist the compressive forces. The compression tests are more significant and thus finds a better use in the civil engineering lab.
