Different types of Tablet Making Machine that are used in Pharmacy Lab!
Tablet making machines or in short the tablet press is used to press the pharmaceutical powder formulation into small, minute form which are of uniform size, shape and weight. This equipment is used for making medicinal tablets and also for cosmetics, cleaning products in different industries.
What do you generally find in a Tablet Making Machine?
While you are looking at a Press or a machine, you will see a hopper that holds the materials which need to be compressed, then the die which is the cavity where the formulated powder is made of the particular size and shape, then the punches which will compress the materials within the die, cam track which helps the movement of the punches, the feeding mechanism which helps in transporting the materials from hopper to the die.
Its different types?
Single Station: This is also known as single press machine. This is the simplest type of tablet making machine and it only uses a single tooling station that has a die and also a pair of upper and lower punches.
This tablet making machine is operated by hand or it can be operated by an electric motor. The upper punch only exerts the compression force while the lower punch is stationary.
Multiple Station: This is also known as rotary tablet presses. One of the most distinctive feature of this tablet making machine is that its turrets that hold the punches. The dies are located near the edge of a large circular die table that keep rotating horizontally. The cams above the turret and below the lower turret cause the needed punches and the lower punch is stationary while the upper punch is forced down to compress the formulation into the tablet.
Thus these are the different types of tablet making machines that are used in Pharmacy Lab.
