The moveable jaw can be held at positions on the scale by means of spring constant in which the fine adjustment can be made by means of a convenient thumb operated strip which is allowed to disengage for fast adjustment. These typees of vernier calipers are provided  with thumb movement for easy motion of jaws, in velvet lined box/plastic case and are available in the following sizes:
